Both of these combinations start in the Wooroonooran National Park about 20 km to the south east of Yungaburra. The Windin and Caribou Falls hike involve relatively easy walking on the partly formed Old Cairns Track through mixed forest. The views from the top of Windin Falls are among the most spectacular on the Tablelands and we enjoy a light lunch and swim before visiting Caribou Falls and heading back up the track and returning to Yungaburra. The West Mulgrave and Churname Falls combination is a more arduous walk, essentially through untracked rainforest with a steep downhill track leading to the spectacular West Mulgrave falls which cascade off the western face of Mount Bartle Frere. We enjoy a light lunch and swim at the base of these falls before visiting Churname Falls and hiking up the hill to the Gourka Road takeout and returning to Yungaburra. Track surface – some formed but mostly unformed track – see above. Approximate trip duration – 7 to 8 hours. Difficulty level – moderate to quite strenuous respectively. Price includes transfers, snacks, picnic lunch and National Park fees.
