We have an early start and transfer to Davies Creek National Park about an hour from Yungaburra. The hike starts at about 750m and we pass through open eucalypt forest on well worn snig tracks used for timber hauling in the past. The climb reaches about 1,290m at the Kahlpahlim Rock summit which offers excellent views of Lake Morris, Cairns and the Coral Sea. We enjoy smoko at the summit before returning via an alternative track which passes through rainforest before crossing a cool creek where we enjoy a quick swim. We make the short drive back to Davies Creek for a light meal and swim before returning to Yungaburra. Track surface – formed and unformed track. Approximate trip duration – 6 to 8 hours. Difficulty level – moderate to quite strenuous. Price includes transfers, snacks, picnic lunch and National Park fees.
